How to recognize the changes after tapping? Part 2

Here are some additional positive changes that one needs to be cognizant of after EFT application.

Cognitive shifts – The way you look at the problem will change after tapping on it; your perspective will alter. Basically, your thoughts revolving around the problem undergo a sea of change. A woman having gone through a traumatic event recalled it by saying, ‘it happens, what can be done about it’. Her tone did not suggest a fatalistic attitude but rather a neutral one. She didn’t have the anger and hurt that was present earlier on. The experience didn’t become positive but it remained with her just as a memory without any emotions attached to it.

Behavioral changes – You will experience behavioral changes. A woman who was angry with her mother was able to be calm while speaking with her the next day. She did not fly off the handle as she normally would in such situations. This in turn made her mother react calmly to her.

A mother who used to be very short tempered with her son, reported to me after tapping that she was able to talk to him calmly and was using far more positive words and tone with him than before.

Reactions to oneself – After removing negative emotions about yourself, your reactions to your own ‘self ‘ will change. You will be feeling lighter and more positive. A man who could not look himself in the mirror without criticizing himself about his physique was able to appreciate himself after resolving guilt issues.

Feeling of numbness – Sometimes you may feel numb or blank after tapping. This is a normal response and many people have it. The numbness is usually due to sudden decrease in the high intensity or due to the cumulative effect of daily tapping.

Distraction – When the intensity decreases the person may also start thinking of something else; may get distracted by more positive thoughts. A man who was tapping on his job dissatisfaction, started thinking of going to the movie next day by the end of the tapping round. This meant that an aspect of the problem that he was tapping on, was resolved.

Third person perspective – When you recall events that you have tapped on,  it may feel that the event happened to someone else and not you.

Attitude changes – Changes in the attitude occur after tapping  A person who was prejudiced against a particular group became more tolerant towards them, after tapping.

Somatic changes – The intensity of physical changes associated with the emotions will become less. Very often you may have heaviness in the chest and head, burning sensation in the stomach, tingling sensation etc when you experience anger or any other strong emotion. After tapping daily on handling stress, anger etc, when you get angry again, you may be able to handle it without the strong somatic changes. The intensity of the physical sensations will be reduced. It would be milder in comparison to before.

This list will help you in recognizing some profound and subtle changes that EFT can achieve.
